Traffic diversion in city in view of the Vinayaka idol procession on August 27

The city police has announced change in vehicular movements on August 27 in view of the Vinayaka idols procession in the city.

The diversion of vehicles would come into effect from 2 p.m. Moffusil buses bound for Chathram bus stand in Tiruchi from Thuraiyur, Ariyalur, Perambalur and Cuddalore will come via Kollidam Tollgate, Chennai By Pass road, old Palpannai roundabout, TVS Tollgate, Head Post Office, MGR statue, Anna Nagar new bridge, Sastri Road, K.T. Junction and Karur By Pass road to reach Chathram bus stand. After dropping passengers, the buses would proceed via Karur By Pass Road, K.T. Junction, Sastri Road, Anna Nagar new bridge and MGR statue and go in the same route in which it had come. Tiruchi-bound buses from Lalgudi, Samayapuram, Mannachanallur and Vathalai areas will come via New Coleroon bridge, Tiruvanaikoil Trunk Road, Tiruvanaikoil Junction, JAC corner to arrive at Srirangam bus stand. Thereafter it will leave via Amma Mandapam road, Veereswaram, Mambazha Salai, Periyar Nagar, Trunk Road, Tiruvanaikoil, Check post no.6 and New Coleroon bridge. Town buses bound for Srirangam from Chathram bus stand will go via Main Guard gate, West Bouelward, Nelpettai, Darbarmedu, Palpannai roundabout, Chennai By Pass road, ‘Y’ road junction, Check post 6, Trunk Road, Tiruvanaikoil Junction, Gandhi Road to reach Srirangam old bus stand.

In the return direction, the buses would go via Amma Mandapam, Veereswaram, Mambazha Salai, Periyar Nagar, Trunk Road, Tiruvanaikoil, Check Post 6, Chennai By Pass road, old Palpannai roundabout, TVS Tollgate, Head Post Office, MGR statue, Anna Nagar new bridge, Sastri road, K.T. Junction, College road to reach Chathram bus stand. Buses bound for Tiruverambur and Thuvakudi from Chathram bus stand would go via Main Guard gate, West Bouleward road, Nelpettai, Dharbarmedu, Old Palpannai roundabout to reach Tiruverambur and Thuvakudi.

In the return direction, the buses would come via Palpannai roundabout, TVS Tollgate, Head Post Office, MGR statue, Anna Nagar new bridge, Sastri road, K.T. Junction and College road to reach Chathram bus stand.

Goods vehicles and heavy goods carriers from Thanjavur and Pudukottai routes and proceeding to Karur would go via Palpannai roundabout, Chennai By Pass road, Cauvery bridge, Kollidam Tollgate, Musiri and Kulithalai, according to a police press release.
