WITH flights increasing to and from Tiruchy airport, a new refuelling station is to be established. Reliance and IndiGo have planned to set the station close to the existing Indian Oil one. The introduction of Thai Air-Asia flights will bring the total flights per week to international destinations from here to 102 from the present 98 services. There would be more activity at the airport as IndiGo, Jet and Alliance Air introduce more domestic routes.

A senior official of the Airports Authority of India said, "There already exists an Indian Oil Corporation centre in 'beak-port, a Hindustan Petroleum station outside the airport complex and the Reliance pumping station, which will be set up soon and for which the ground break-ing ceremony has already been held." The official added airlines enter into an agreement with oil companies of their choice when it comes to refuelling. With IndiGo set to operate from Tiruchy to Chennai and Bengaluru, the carrier is ensuring every-thing is in place for its operations. As Jet Airways already operates to Chennai thrice daily and with the possible launch of Air India Express flights, ticket pric-es for flights to Chennai could see a decrease.
