CM to inaugurate the new Collectorate building

Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi would visit Tiruchi on September 8 to inaugurate the new Collectorate building here constructed at a cost of Rs.12.50 crore. He will also commission the Rs.169-crore Tiruchi Corporation's drinking water supply scheme and distribute welfare assistance , said Transport Minister K.N.Nehru on Tuesday.

Addressing a meeting after distributing free LPG stoves and cylinders to beneficiaries in Uppiliyapuram panchayat in Thuraiyur taluk, the Minister said the Chief Minister was according priority for implementation of welfare schemes for the benefit of the poor and weaker sections of society.

Mr. Nehru who laid the foundation for construction of additional buildings at the Government Higher Secondary School at Sirunavalur village at a cost of Rs.65 lakh with financial assistance from the NABARD, said the Chief Minister's Health Insurance Scheme for Life Saving Treatments had evoked a good response in the State and pointed out that nearly 1.50 crore families were provided biometric cards under the scheme.
