GK Industrial Park at Reddimangudi

The GK Industrial Park at Reddimangudi along Lalgudi Road off Tiruchi-Chennai Highway has taken shape on an expanse of 600 acres within a year, earning praise from the officialdom and industrial fraternity.

Situated at a vantage location, the industrial park showcases Tiruchi as an industrial hub with an optimal blend of skills and infrastructure.

The industrial park being developed to global standards by G.K. Industrial Park Pvt. Ltd., a company promoted by K.G.Muralidharan, industrialist, and IL & FS Investment Managers Ltd., features common infrastructure encompassing roads, power supply, sewage treatment and other primary amenities besides technical infrastructure specifically designed to support heavy engineering industries.

A cluster of small industries are to be promoted within the park with guidance and patronage from large industries operating in the region. Large industries that locate themselves in the park will have an intrinsic advantage of establishing their assembly and end of line operations. The ‘plug and play' facility will be positioned as a major attraction to attract foreign investors.

Tamil Nadu's industrial policy is quite conducive, Mr.Muralidharan said on Monday. Of the investment of Rs.160 crore, the equity component was Rs.90 crore, and the rest was raised as bank loan.

Implemented by the IL & FS Cluster Development Initiative Ltd., the industrial park, according to Mr.Muralidharan, will leverage the nationwide recognition of Tiruchi region as the major centre for manufacturing power generation equipment and structural fabrication systems led by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited.

So far, 30 acres of the total saleable area is 420 acres have been sold. Over 90 per cent of the work has been completed in 200 acres, in the first phase.

The remaining area will be developed within a year in the second phase. The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board has blocked supply of five MW to the park, Mr. Muralidharan said. Lauding the project, District Collector T. Soundiah and the Managing Director of Janani Group, who laid the foundation for a hostel block in the industrial park on Monday, hoped it will be a model for private industrial parks in Tamil Nadu. They were certain about the industrial park's success owing to the presence of BHEL and vibrancy of the fabrication sector in the region.
