CM to inaugurate housing scheme on March 3
Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi will inaugurate the Kalaignar Housing Scheme, announced in the Assembly recently, in Tiruchi on March 3, said K. N. Nehru, Transport Minister, here on Thursday.
The scheme envisages construction of about 21 lakh permanent concrete houses for people living in huts over a six year period, he pointed out speaking at a function to mark the inauguration of services at the upgraded Primary Health Centre at Veeramachanpatti near Thuraiyur, distribution of free television sets and welfare assistance. Deputy Chief Minister M.K.Stalin would also participate in the function.
The government, Mr.Nehru said, has shown that such ambitious projects could be executed. Mr.Karunanidhi has implemented a programme to provide electrification to all villages.
Stating that Tamil Nadu was performing well in the health sector, he said a new building for Government taluk headquarters hospital at Thuraiyur would be built at a cost of Rs.2 crores in the next financial year.
