The police have spelt out precautionary measures that need to be taken by public using ATM cards to prevent getting duped by tricksters.

A total number of 21 cases were booked in 2017 based on such complaints, a release said.

The police have advised residents not to disclose ATM card PIN number or the card number to those calling them either over phone or in person claiming to be bank employee or bank manager.

It has also appealed to the public not to disclose the ATM PIN number to strangers who volunteer to assist them in withdrawing cash from the ATM centre.

Public have also been asked to desist from the practice of writing the ATM card PIN number behind the card in a piece of paper on the card.

They have also been asked not to disclose the one time password they get through SMS regarding money transactions to strangers.
