Integrated services soon for passengers

Image result for trichy railway junctionTIRUCHY railway divisional authorities have begun to draw up plans to improve passenger information services by integrating services of the Railway Protection Force, missing children and women help centre, ticket inspectors, differently abled assistance and battery car services, will now be found in front of the railway junction for the convenience of passengers. According to railway authorities, the current information centre, located at a congested spot at the entrance to the first platform, would be completely revamped for better services.

The information centre currently caters only to passengers about to board a train and other services are scattered all over the place, leading to difficulties for passengers. A senior railway official said that plans are being made with the help of an agency for information on missing children and a rescue centre in partnership with security officials. On an average, railway police rescue at least 30 runaway chil-dren. The new centre will also have LED panels allowing for greater visibility Southern Railway has received Rs 38 Crore for passenger amenity work, all of which is being uti-lised by the railway divisions.

The proposal for Tiruchy is already in the final stages of approval and would soon be set up at the railway junction. An exclusive battery charging point has also been planned for battery ve-hicles which run on the platforms. Tiruchy Railway Junction receives more than 10,000 passengers daily with 150 trains serving the station. At least 20 trains originate from Tiruchy to the central dis-trictanpassenger numbers are rising every year, said railway authorities.
