Integrated services soon for passengers

The information centre currently caters only to passengers about to board a train and other services are scattered all over the place, leading to difficulties for passengers. A senior railway official said that plans are being made with the help of an agency for information on missing children and a rescue centre in partnership with security officials. The proposal for Tiruchy is already in the final stages of approval and would soon be set up at the railway junction. An exclusive battery charging point has also been planned for battery ve-hicles which run on the platforms. Tiruchy Railway Junction receives more than 10,000 passengers daily with 150 trains serving the station. At least 20 trains originate from Tiruchy to the central dis-trictanpassenger numbers are rising every year, said railway authorities.
