IIM-T plans to set up global virtual team

THE Indian Institute of Management-Tiruchy (IIM-T) is planning to establish a Global Virtual Team, a state-of-the-art online inter-active platform for students, at the new campus in Chinna Suriyur village along the Tiruchy-Pudukkottai road. The institution has tied up with five renowned educational institution across the world and IIM st-dents will get hands-on-experience and guidance during their studies by interacting with foreign educators and students for their projects. The move is to inculcate experiential learning among stu-dents to excel in different work fields be-fore they complete graduation.   "Our institution is ready to connect with faculty members and experts across the world," Metri said. The classrooms in the new campus are designed to handle live video-conferencing with ease. Metri said the institution is putting all efforts towards experiential learning. With the Global Virtual Team, students would be team members of all participating institutions and could jointly work on projects. Experiential learning would help students experience different cultures, languages and systems from many countries and equip them intellectually. Metri said projects could be done by virtual means without having to leave the IIM -T campus. A behavioral lab would also be set up soon. The director said the work of human resources is to identify organisational behavior, including positive and negative emotions, because an employee's ability reflects in emotions.
