Sale of application forms for MBBS, BDS courses begins

Image result for tn mbbs applicationAS the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) examina-tion results were published re-cently, the health department at KA Viswanatham Medical Col-lege has started distributing ap-plication forms for MBBS and BDS admissions for the present academic year 2017-2018, on Tuesday. Within a few hours of starting the distribution, all the 250 ap-plications were sold out. The anxious aspirants and the des-perate parents are to wait for a day to receive applications to participate in medical counsel-ling. As soon as the application forms ran out of stock, the par-ents were seen agitating with the authorities for not simplify-ing the application process by making it online. Subsequently, the health department has pro-posed to implement a digital ap-plication (online application) method within the next couple of days. The department started dis-tributing the printed applica-tion forms to the candidates for applying for medical counsel-ling to avail medical seats in government colleges and gov-ernment seats in self-financed colleges, from Tuesday. As the demand for applications was high, the department, after sell-ing out the first batch on the first day of issue, had to send for a new batch of applications. Speaking to Express, A Subra-manyam, a parent said, "I have been waiting to buy the applica-tion form for my daughter since 10.30 am. However, by 3 pm, the authorities informed us that the application for ms have been completely sold out. They told us to get the forms on the next

day by providing tokens. As the whole world is heading towards the digitalization and online platforms to get things done, can't there be a facility in place for the students to download the forms at ease?"

Officials at the venue said the main issue was that one of the sheets in the application set was missing. "So, sale of forms was held up till the missing set was brought from the printing press, which delayed the process till 2 pm," they said "We were expecting only around 500 candidates or so, but there were nearly 2,000 who turned up today leading to com-motion. We called in the police to manage the crowd and also opened three more counters to ease the rush, " said hospital dean P Vasanthamani. The Directorate of Medical Education has set up facilitation centre at its campus on Tuesday. Candidates can seek clarifica-tions from the centre.
