Career guidance counselling for civil service aspirants organised

THE District Central Library, in association with the Readers' Cir-cle, conducted a career guidance and skill development programme for the candidates who wish to get into civil services, here, on Saturday. About 100 civil service aspir-ants from the district participated in the programme, including those general public and registered members with the District Library. The Central Library has been organising many programmes to provide varied exposure to stu-dents of various streams. In this line, the career guidance and skill development training programme was especially meant for the civil service aspirants. A Bengaluru-based educational-ist G Lakshminarayanan presided over the programme and provided educational tips for the students. In the interactive session be-tween the students and the educationalist many students voluntarily raised questions and doubts related to the civil services and were clarified by Lakshminarayanan. The two-hour programme gave an insight on how to apply for the exam conducted by Union Pub-lic Service Commission (UPSC)for recruitment to various civil services posts including Indian Admin-istrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS). an interview, and on behavior and body language at the interview The participants showed inter-est in attending such skill development oriented programmes. Following their response, the officials with the District Central Library have planned to host more programmes for the candidates who apply for competitive and Pub-lic Service Commission (PSC) exams from the month of July.
