Vayalur Temple work to be taken up soon

Renovation of the Sri Subramaniaswamy Temple at Kumara Vayalur near Tiruchi is expected to be taken up soon.

The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department has drawn up a plan for the renovation at an estimate of Rs. 3 crore.

The plan envisages repair and painting of the ‘rajagopuram’ and the ‘vimaams’ of various shrines, maintenance of the temple tank and improvements to amenities being provided for the devotees.

The marble floor which was laid out earlier in the temple premises will be removed and the old stone slabs would be laid to preserve their original character.

“But, the HR and CE Department has taken a decision to restore the original grandeur of this Chola-built temple and hence the plan to demolish the marble structure fixed on an area of about 2,000 square feet,” an official source told The Hindu on Thursday.
