Ola overtakes other cab services with app in Trichy

Ola cabs which has managed to spread its base in the city within a span of six months has prompted its competitors to consider switching over to new technology to reach out to the customers and remain competitive in the market.

"We are exploring the possibilities of introducing navigation system and also planning to launch app in the upcoming days," says said Christo Joseph, managing partner NTL call taxi service.
"Introduction of cab service in the city was instrumental in making it affordable for the lower middle class. Further, Ola cabs have made fares so competitive that the users of public transport could also afford cab service," he said.

"We have a set of customers who frequent us based on our good service. The market has become competitive. But increase in the number of customers has kept us optimistic," he added.

"Though the navigation and app system provides Ola an edge, its services are limited to the city. The competitors claim to be less affected by its significant development," said D Prakash, S R Travels in Trichy.

"Most of our customers are those who frequent to longer distance, a service untouched by most of those offering the services in the city," he added.

"Such cab service has indeed affected small players in the city. Absence of app and navigation system is indeed a draw back for the conventional taxi service providers," he said

"Being a technology company, Ola doesn't own a single car and claims to be developing driver-entrepreneurs while being a connecting point between the car owners and customers," said an office-bearer of Ola cabs.

"Ola's mission is to build mobility for wider range of people in the country and we are achieving that by providing safe, reliable and convenient mode of booking a cab. The first step in realizing this mission was through enabling in-city transportation which has seen a great response from the public," said Ravi Teja, business head, Tamil Nadu.
