Consecration of Trichy's Srirangam temple to be announced soon

The consecration of Sri Ranganathaswamy temple in Srirangam is expected to be announced soon as renovation works at the temple are in the final stages. The temple officials have been keen on organizing the event before the announcement of the assembly elections.

Officials from Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment (HR&CE) department inspected the developmental works carried out at Sri Ranganathaswamy temple on Friday. A senior official from the temple said HR&CE officials reviewed the renovation work that is being carried on the temple premises from the past one year.

"The officials discussed about various aspects of the renovation and dates for the consecration. The date has not been fixed yet, but they asked us to expedite the work carried out on several parts of the temple", the official said.

However, sources from the temple said the officials were keen to have the consecration done before the announcement of the assembly elections in the state. Hence, it is expected to take place in the coming months.

Painting work at gopurams of the temple, especially the Rajagopuram, is nearing completion. Further, cleaning work is in full swing at Garuda Mandapam, Renga Vilas Mandapam, and Kambathadi Mandapam.
