KAPV medical college seeks MCI nod for five PG courses

Image result for kap viswanatham govt medical collegeThe K.A.P. Viswanatham Government Medical College (KAPVGMC) has sought the Medical Council of India (MCI)’s nod for introducing five Post Graduate courses from the next academic year (2015-16).
The courses for which the medical college applied and created necessary infrastructure are MD (Doctor of Medicine) of Pathology, MD Psychiatry, MD Microbiology, MD Pharmacology, and MD ENT with an intake of two seats each.
M.K. Muralidharan, Dean, K.A.P. Viswanatham Medical College, Tiruchi, told The Hindu that the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) and Dr. MGR. Medical University had accepted the proposal on starting new PG courses. The nod of MCI was needed to start the courses.
Expressing confidence on getting the MCI nod, he said the college had met the basic requirements for starting the PG courses. Moreover, all infrastructure had been set up as per the MCI norms. MCI teams were expected to visit the college soon to inspect the facilities.
Similarly, Mr. Muralidharan said a separate proposal had been sent to the Medical Council of India for increasing the intake of post-graduate courses such as General Medicine, General Surgery, Paediatrics, Anaesthesia, Gynaecology, and Bio-Chemistry. If the nod was obtained, the intake of general medicine would be increased from 4 to 12.
He added that a proposal had been sent to the government for filling 33 super specialist doctors, including cardiologists, neurologists, nephrologists, and anaesthetists for the medical college hospital. The proposal had been approved in principal. It was expected that the vacancies would be filled up shortly.
