Synthetic athletic track at Anna Stadium
Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare R.B. Udhayakumar,
who inspected the ongoing work on laying a synthetic athletic track at
Anna Stadium here on Saturday, advised the officials to expedite the
project and ensure quality. The eight-lane 400-metre flood-lit track
would be laid around the football ground.
The
football ground will be of grass turf. The Minister interacted with the
sports hostel boys and exhorted them to work hard to achieve success at
national and international levels.
Later, Mr.
Udhayakumar inaugurated the village games for Nagamangalam panchayat at
Crea Matriculation Higher Secondary School. He said that the village
games were being conducted to tap rural talent.
“Participation
in sporting activities inculcates values such as discipline and
dedication apart from fostering camaraderie,” he added.
Competitions were conducted in athletics, volleyball, and kabaddi for men and women, while football was held only for men.
