New-age schools outshine the famed in Trichy

Christian mission schools are always acclaimed for producing excellent results, year after year. However, these days they are facing stiff competition from other private schools. In Trichy, the SRVs and Dhanalakshmi Srinivasans are challenging the superiority of the likes of Bishop Hebers and St Mary's.
The recent results of SSLC examinations prove that the pendulum of excellence has swung in favour of the new-age, avant-garde schools such as SRV (Smart, Resourceful and Vibrant) and Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan. SRV is based at Samayapuram and the latter headquartered in Perambalur with branches in Trichy. Till recently, St Joseph's at Main Guard Gate, Holy Cross Girls HSS at Teppakulam, Bishop Heber at Puthur, Methodist at Woriyur and St Anne's Girls HSS at Melaputhur were synonymous with educational excellence and admission to such schools were much sought-after.

In fact, in recent years, there has been a healthy competition between SRV and Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan and between them they have shared the top honours. For instance, four Dhanalakshmi students - R Divya Laxmi (four centum), A Janani (three centum), V Gayatri (three centum) and K R Vijay (one centum) - had figured in the third position in SSLC in the state by scoring 496 marks. A total of 137 students had attained this mark in the state. In contrast, the once-prestigious
Holy Cross Girls HSS had only five girls who scored 490 each, the highest mark in the school.
Easwari of Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan HSS had scored 497 with three centum and her batchmate Niveditha joined the third rankers in the state with 496 marks including two centum. A total of 40 students had scored centum. One girl from this school had scored a centum in English, 16 students each in Science and Mathematics and seven in Social Science. Moreover, the pass percentage at this school was 100%.
Even in the recent HSC results, the SRV Matric HSS had taken first, second and third ranks out of seven toppers in the district.
