IIM Trichy completes its Summer Placements; students get stipend up to Rs 1.2 lakh


IIM Trichy completed its Summer Placement for its first batch with all the students placed for internship with renowned companies including HUL, P&G International, Perfetti van Melle, Citibank, HSBC, ING Vysya, ICICI, Yes Bank, L&T, Cognizant Business Consulting, Mahindra & Mahindra GMC, IBM Research.

While the highest domestic offer for the internship period for the students of 2011-2013 batch was as high as Rs 1,20,000, the average stipend was Rs 53,000. A total of 40 companies drove to the campus to recruit 83 students for internships in various domains including Marketing Finance, Operations, HR, Consulting and Strategy. One student chose to venture out on her own to pursue her interest in the field of Corporate Sustainability. Some of the students also got offers from international companies for internship abroad.

“We had the privilege of having renowned companies on campus for our inaugural summer internship recruitment process,” said Dr Godwin Tennyson, Chairperson, Placement and External Relations, IIM Tiruchirappalli, adding, “IIM Tiruchirappalli has catered to the career aspirations of every student; even certain niche and unique interests such as renewable energy, mobile healthcare and online marketing were considered while placing students.”

The recruiters who offered marketing roles included HUL, P&G International, Perfetti van Melle, Pfizer, Merck Sharp & Dohme, Rediff.com, Amul, Berger Paints, Arvind Limited, IOCL, Edu Nirvana, mHealth Ventures, Natesan Synchrocones, Innopark and Tata Group.

In the finance space, big brands like Citibank, HSBC, ING Vysya, ICICI, Yes Bank, L&T, NCDEX, UBI, IFMR and Kotak Mahindra participated and recruited the students. Profiles in the areas of Consulting, Operations, HR and Strategy were offered by Cognizant Business Consulting, Mahindra & Mahindra GMC, IBM Research, Wipro, Lumis Partners, VFS Global, Redington, IL&FS, Index Advisory, Tata Chemicals, Murugappa Group, Gammon India, Impetus Consulting, XIndia Steels and Sterling & Wilson.



With 36 per cent students opting for Finance and the same percentage of students going for Marketing, the two domain attracted majority of talents from the campus. Other areas students chose for their summers included Operations (12 Per cent), Consulting (six per cent), Strategy (five per cent), and HR (five per cent).

“The successful beginning is the result of strong ties that IIM Tiruchirappalli has forged with Industry. We believe that this overwhelming response is a clear indicator of the quality at IIM Tiruchirappalli,” said Dr. Tennyson.
