Go for job of your liking, not for pay, BIM graduates told

“Success is not an end, but a process. When exercising a career choice, opt for the job that you would love to do rather than the one that offers greater pay and perks,” T.S.Sridhar, Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education, told management graduates at Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM) here on Saturday.

Though it is fashionable to exhort young people to follow their dreams, it was important that youngsters have the right dreams.

The dream should be driven by passion. “It should not be just about goals and targets, but about what you want to do and how to do it,” he said.

Academic knowledge and application of business management when tempered with real life experience will lay the foundation for successful managerial careers, he said while delivering graduation day address at the 23 Graduation Day of the institute. Having invested in education, young graduates should realise that the future would be what they make of it, he said.

K.Meena, Vice Chancellor, Bharathidasan University, exhorted the graduates to be in tune with changes and be creative to bring about solutions to problems . The BIM, she said, occupied a pride of place among business schools in the country and has recently been rated with three stars by CRISIL.

A.Nagarajan, Director, BIM, former directors Pyare Lal Arya and N.Bala Baskar spoke.

One hundred and sixteen graduates received their degrees on the occasion.
