NIT-T management department wins Dewang Mehta award


The Department of Management Studies (DoMS), National Institute of Technology – Tiruchi, has won the prestigious Dewang Mehta B-School award, for ‘promoting innovations leading to development'.

Ravi Kumar, Chief General Manager, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), an alumnus, received the award that recognises talent and leadership among business schools in India, at Mumbai recently.

Awards were also given in other categories: ‘B School that encourages leadership as a part of the curriculum' and ‘B School with best academic input' besides individual categories.

Instituted in memory of late Dewang Mehta, known as the dynamic NASSCOM (National Association of Software and Service Companies) chief during 1999-2001, the awards are supported by Shaila Mehta-Director, Onward Foundation for Dewang Mehta Awards.

The Patron is the Chairman & Managing Director Onward Technologies Ltd, Harish Mehta, former Chairman and a founder member of NASSCOM, and the first president of the Mumbai Chapter of TiE, a non-profit global network of entrepreneurs and professionals, established to foster entrepreneurship and nurture entrepreneurs.

Prasad Medury, Partner, Amrop International, chaired the jury.

The award also recognises industry interface of the business school, and dedicated to the spirit of young India. Hindustan Unilever was the presenting supporter and Hexaware and Canon the silver supporters.

The award by DoMS was in recognition of its continuous efforts to deliver managerial excellence, Srinivasan Sundarrajan, Director, NIT Trichy, said.

The institution has provided a stimulating environment for budding managers, and support from the alumni was another important factor, said Department Head N. Thamaraiselvan.
