Jet Airways air service
Private carrier, Jet Airways, is to commence operations from Tiruchi with a launch of a daily service on the Chennai-Tiruchi-Chennai sector from March 27.
According to airport sources , the airline was planning to operate two services a day. However, it has obtained clearance and commenced bookings for its afternoon service on the sector and was awaiting clearance from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation for a second frequency in the night. The afternoon flights would depart from Chennai at 12.30 p.m. and arrive at Tiruchi at 1.35 p.m. In the return direction, the flight would depart at 2.05 p.m. and reach Chennai at 3.10 p.m. Kingfisher Airlines is likely to expand its operations from Tiruchi.
