Progress of development works in Tiruchi district reviewed

S. Machendranathan, Transport Commissioner and Monitoring Officer, has instructed district officials to complete all on going development works within the stipulated time frame.

Mr.Machendranthan chaired a meeting with district officials here on Wednesday to review the progress of the development works and inspected some of the works in the city. Accompanied by Collector T.Soundiah and other officials, he inspected the progress of the construction of an overhead water tank being built at Viswanathan Street in K.K.Nagar under the Rs.169-crore drinking water augmentation scheme and the progress of the flood control scheme works along the Uyyakondan river.

Earlier, at the meeting, Mr.Machedranathan reviewed the implementation of various government schemes including the two-acre free land scheme, wasteland development programme and other schemes implemented by the Agriculture Department.

He reviewed the progress of drinking water schemes being executed by the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board, the works taken up by the District Rural Development Agency and the urban local bodies.

Mr.Machendranathan also took up a performance review on the implementation of social welfare schemes including the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme for Life Saving Treatments, the Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Memorial Marriage Assistance Scheme and the progress of development works being taken up in various schools by the Department of School Education.

Apart from Mr.Soundiah, V.Dakshinamurthy, District Revenue Officer, T.T.balsamy, Corporation Commissioner, J.Dhanasekaran, Project Officer, DRDA, attended the meeting.
