Trichy Airport Update.

Praful said the development of the 35 non-metro airports was going ahead as scheduled. The Airports Authority of India had been investing heavily over the last few years to strengthen the aviation infrastructure. Not just the 35 non-metro airports, several others were also being upgraded.

Mr. Patel was briefed by airport officials, including S. Dharmaraj, Airport Controller, and T.H. Radhakrishnan, Station Manager, National Aviation Company Limited, on the development works. He was told that the Tiruchi airport had recorded an increase in passenger traffic, bucking the national trend.

The Minister was informed by the officials that a survey would begin soon on the lands to be acquired for the next phase of expansion of the airport.

About 439 acres had been sought by the AAI for the purpose.
