Trichy Airport to Srirangam - AC Bus service
TIRUCHI: Commuters in Tiruchi city can now enjoy the luxury of travelling in air-conditioned comfort in swanky buses operated in Airport-Srirangam sector.
Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) launched the new service on Monday, fulfilling the long-felt need of air travellers and the general public for a shuttle service from the airport to the city.
The TNSTC has introduced two such buses in this sector.
With a seating capacity of 44, the AC bus from Srirangam will be operated via Chathiram bus stand, Thillai Nagar, Central bus stand and railway junction, covering prominent hotels en route for the benefit of air passengers and tourists before reaching the airport.
The introduction of the services comes in the wake of a representation made by airline operators committee headed by Station Manager of Air India T. H. Radhakrishnan to Transport Minister K.N. Nehru a week back.
Quick move by NehruMr. Nehru immediately ordered the introduction of the service and made arrangements for the buses to be brought in from Chennai.
The departure timings of the AC service from Srirangam are 5.30 a.m., 7.00 a.m., 9.20 a.m., 9.35 a.m., 12.05 p.m., 12.45 p.m. and 9.10 p.m. The buses will depart from the Airport at 4.25 a.m., 6.45 a.m., 8.15 a.m., 8.30 a.m., 11 a.m., 11.30 a.m., 1.25 p.m., 2.00 p.m. and 10.40 p.m.
The fare from Airport to Srirangam is Rs. 60, while the fare from Airport to Central bus stand is Rs.30.
Mr. Nehru inaugurated the new service at a brief function held at the Airport.
