Corporation to remove encroachments

Tiruchi: The Corporation has decided to remove encroachments on water bodies and drainage channels falling within the city limits.

In a press release issued on Sunday, the Corporation Commissioner T.T. Balsamy said that the civic body is acting as per the direction of the Madras High Court. Continuing with its drive, the civic body had decided to remove encroachments on water bodies and drainage channels. Despite announcements through the media to remove encroachments, the encroachers had failed to act. Stating that this was the final warning to the encroachers, he said if they failed to act, the encroachments would be cleared by officials of the civic body and the Public Works Department. Action as per law would be initiated against the encroachers, he said.
