Airport gets more surveillance cameras

City Police Commissioner A.Amalraj commissioned a set of six surveillance cameras at the airport here on Wednesday.

According to officials, the infra-red cameras with night vision would enable officers at the Air Traffic Control to monitor parking of aircraft at all seven bays at the airport, the apron and movement of vehicles there and violations, if any. The cameras have been installed at a cost of ₹14 lakhs. A network of CCTV cameras is already functional in various other parts of the airport.

Earlier, he chaired a meeting of the Aerodrome Committee to discuss and review anti-hijacking measures at the airport.
