Grievance Cell to be set up at RPO

A Grievance Cell would be opened at the Regional Passport Office in Tiruchi.

It would function from 2.30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays to address grievances of applications who have visited the office more than twice in connection with pending applications for passport services, R.Anand, Passport Officer, Tiruchi said.

In a press release, he said that a Social Audit Cell (SAC) was functioning at the Passport Office from 9.30 a.m. to noon to address grievance related to passport services. To expedite disposal of pending files and for convenience of applicants, it has been decided to extend the timing of SAC/Enquiry counter up to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

He said about 1000 applications were being processed every day at the Passport Seva Kendras in Tiruchi and Thanjavur besides the Post Office Passport Seva Kendras at Karaikal and Perambalur. In some cases, additional documents may be required or due to some issues, the applications may be pending.

Such applicants may have to visit the passport office for submission of additional documents or explanations. These applicants can directly meet the designated officer by sending the details of their applications at least one day prior to Wednesday every week and get prior appointment by sending an e-mail to:rpo.trichy@mea.gov.in

In addition, applicants make use of a 24 x7 helpline by dialing the toll free number 1800-258-1800 for general enquiry, application status, police verification status and tracking of applications, he said.
