Students exhorted to be creative to succeedBe creative to succeed: Students told at IIM-T

Creativity is the mantra to success, the newly-inducted students of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Trichy were told on Monday as part of the inauguration of the eighth batch of postgraduate programme in management.
Chief guest of the event, Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, MD & CEO, Lahari- Advanced Electronics Testing Facility, said that creativity comes when time is very precious and asked students to make best use of their next two years to create a platform for themselves.


Sharing the experience of his experiments with career by moving from one job to another, Sanjeev said he could identify a leader in himself. He also said that he failed at several occasions but his ability to be creative in every front kept him going and helped him reach new milestones.
The guest of honour, Jibitesh Rath, general manager (HRD), NMDC Ltd. asked the students to have a role model in their lives. He also stressed on the fact that one should align their purpose of life with what they do. Rath ended his speech by quoting Sir Winston Churchill- “Never, never, never give up.”
Bhimaraya Metri, director, IIM-Trichy, touched upon the state-of-the-art facilities that were conducive for all-round learning at the permanent campus along with 37 faculty members with strong research base and global exposure.
Meanwhile, female students are expected to be almost equal in numbers to their male counterparts this year in IIM Trichy as 45% of the shortlisted students are women. This is unlike the previous year when only 13% students were female. While female students have fared well in common entrance test (CAT) across the country, they have been given additional weightage in the merit list this year. Being the first batch to be inducted after IIM-Trichy moved to the new state-of-the-art campus, there has been good response from the students, said the faculty members. The chief guest Sanjeev Kumar Gupta also announced a special award of Rs 25,000 to to a women candidate in the area of entrepreneurship.
