Scanners, approach roads at Tiruchy station being fixed

The passengers and visitors coming into Tiruchy railway station no longer have to worry about the badly maintained approach roads as authorities have started repairing the road. Significantly, the road on the front side of the station close to the office of the Divisional Rail-way Manager, Tiruchy was in a bad condition rendering a bumpy ride for the two-wheelers. Al-though the authorities did some patchwork of the approach road, the laying of the tar went missing at many locations. This made the road unsafe especially for the two-wheeler riders.

Express reported the ill-maintained condition of the approach road in front of the Tiruchy rail-way station in its January 25 edition headlined Roads to rly station maintained poorly; officials promise repair Despite the rail blockade agitation held in front of the railway station on Sunday, the workers continued repairing the road and passengers had appreciated their special effort. "It is good that officials have decided to repair the road on a Sunday. In fact, I also appreciated the police for making sure that they made efforts for ensuring that the agitators did not stop the repair work," said S Subramaniam, a passenger. Similar to this, there are two baggage scanners in front of the station which were not functional for more than a month. Even during high alerts especially during New Year's eve and on Repub-ic Day, the two baggage scanners in front of the station were not functioning. Express reported this issue on January 20 head-lined Security afaray at Tiruchy junction.
