NIT-T awarded 40 fellowships

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has awarded 34 Ph.D fellowships and six young faculty fellowships to National Institute of Technology - Tiruchi, under its new Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme.

Under the scheme introduced to enhance the number of Ph.Ds in the Electronic Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) and IT/IT enabled Services (ITES) sector and to attract and retain the faculty in these areas, the Ministry has awarded young faculty fellowships to MP Selvan, N Sivakumaran, G. Saravana Ilango, S. Moorthi, Sishaj P Simon and K. Srinivasan.

These six young faculties and the 36 Ph.D scholars are entitled to research grants, enhanced fellowships and travel grant for presentation of papers in international conferences, S.V. Raghavan, Chairman, Academic Committee, Visvesvaraya Ph.D Programme, said, handing over the fellowships recently at a function in NIT-T in the presence of Institute Director Mini Shaji Thomas, and B. Venkatramani,Senior Professor.

The NIT-T, Dr. Mini Shaji Thomas assured Prof. Raghavan, will extend its support to the Ph.D scholars and the young faculty fellows to achieve excellence in the ESDN and ITES sector.
