IIM-T qualifies for Asia-Pacific finals




The Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchi, has won the national round of the prestigious Annual CFA Institute Research Challenge and has qualified for the Asia Pacific finals to be held in Kuala Lumpur.

The IIMT team comprising Shivansh Namdeo, Saurabh Rakheja, Mohit Pandey, Bharat Singh and Harshal Bhageria was adjudged winner, along with teams representing IIM-Ahmedabad and IIM-Calcutta, at the national round held on January 28 at Bloomberg office in Mumbai, a press release issued here on Monday said.

An equity research report presented by the IIMT team on the given company Hero Motocorp Ltd. was evaluated by Pramod Gubbi, Managing Director and Head of Equities, Ambit Capital, Suresh Krishnamurthy, Senior Director, Global Head of Research, CRISIL, and Pankaj Murarka, Founder of Renaissance Investment Managers.

The IIMT competed against institutes such as ISB, IIMB, TAPMI in the South Zone and IIFT Delhi, IIM Indore, IIM Raipur and NMIMs in the North, East and West zones respectively.

The CFA Institute Research Challenge, considered the Investment Olympics, has students from 900 universities in over 75 countries participating in the local rounds of competition every year. In India, it is conducted at the four zonal levels among 55 leading business schools. This is the third time in four years that IIMT has won the national round, the release said.
