Build Rock expo opens

The 36th edition of Build Rock, the annual exhibition of building materials of the Builders’ Association of India (BAI), Tiruchi, is back in the city this weekend.

‘Build Rock – 2017,’ inaugurated on Friday by District Collector K. Rajamani at the Makkal Mandram in Thillai Nagar, features 81 participants from the real estate, construction and building materials sectors from all over the country.

“We are hoping to give the public more information on what is available in the market when it comes to constructing a commercial or domestic building,” A. Nazrudeen, Chairman, Build Rock – 2017, told The Hindu . “The stalls will be catering to both the layman and trader equally, ” he added.

Artistic laser cutting of stainless steel, mild steel, aluminium, brass, composite materials, veneer and wood is among the newer technologies on the block that is being showcased.

Lifts for domestic and commercial use are being showcased.

Notable among these is the staircase lift, which allows physically handicapped people to negotiate upper floors with ease.

Among the other exhibitors at Build Rock – 2017 are vendors of laminated wooden doors, roof tiles, water treatment plants, kitchen fittings, and demolition services.

Banks and real estate companies are also participating.

The exhibition is on from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and is scheduled to conclude on Monday, December 25
