BDU Syndicate gets two new members

Associate professor at Khadir Mohideen College of Arts and Science, Adirampattinam J Chockalingam and A S Nageswaran of H H The Rajah's College in Pudukkottai, have been elected as members of the syndicate of Bharthidasan University.
They were elected through voting by 41 elected teacher-senate members from approved colleges affiliated to Bharathidasan University. The elected candidates received 16 votes each. Prem Kumar from the Bishop Heber College, who was also a candidate, was defeated by eight votes. One among the 41 votes was deemed invalid.
They both are replacing A Leema Rose and S Dhandapani, whose tenure as syndicate members gets over on December 26. The duo had vehemently opposed appointment of the key administrative officers including that of registrar by the vice chancellor convener committee. They, along with three others, had petitioned the governor terming the move as illegal. Principal of Sudarsan College of Arts and Science, Pudukkottai, M Murugesan and principal in-charge, Khadir Mohideen College, Adirampattinam A Mohamed Mohideen have been elected syndicate members unopposed among the principals of affiliated colleges.
