Hi-speed rail trial today in Ponmalai

Image result for Ponmali railway lineHE Ponmalai-Solamgampatti stretch of railway line has been doubled for a span of 19 km and the Commissioner of Railway Safety, Southern Circle, is conducting high-speed tri-al on Wednesday. The 19-km stretch is complete with all the electrification carried out by the Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. According to the Railways, the Commissioner of Rail-way Safety, southern circle, Bengaluru, will also conduct a high-speed trial run between Solagampatti - Ponmalai railway stations on Wednesday be-tween 4 pm and 6 pm.

All users of the railway lines between Solagampatti-Ponmalai railway stations in Thanjavur - Tiruch-chirappalli section of Tiruchy Division are here-by cautioned not to approach or trespass. Officials involved in construction said that af-ter carrying survey re-ports in 2009, it was projected for !450 crore and the works began in 2011. In 2011, the Central government sanctioned a sum of 2190 crore. Work began moving at a steady pace only from the middle of last year with the laying up of tracks after Ponmalai. According to the Rail-way Vikas Nigam Ltd officials, the civil work began after the land acquisition was completed a few years ago for the construction of the 19 bridges, 90 small ones, and three subways. In this 19 km alone, five major bridges and 38 mi-nor bridges have been constructed as part of the project. The officials are hop ing that the remaining work on 28 km would be finished by this year-end as construction is already taken up in full swing.
