Corporation launches dengue prevention drive



The Tiruchi Corporation has launched a dengue-prevention drive in all 65 wards in the city by involving health officials, special workers and volunteers.

As part of the drive, the civic body has involved 500 dengue prevention special workers, 120 first grade supervisors and 65 second grade supervisors. A total of 65 teams have been set up to carry out anti-larva operation in their respective wards.

N. Ravichandran, Special Officer cum Corporation Commissioner, said that they would work six days a week and visit at least 80 houses per day in their respective wards to destroy mosquito breeding sources. They would distribute pamphlets to the residents on how to keep their surroundings clean.

The teams would be given specific tasks to destroy mosquito breeding sources.

Distribution of nilavembu kudineer to the residents was among the important tasks of the drive.

It had been decided to provide the concoction to 1.96 lakh students once in 2 months for five days continuously.

Similarly, nilavembu kudineer would be given to the moving population at Central Bus Stand, Chathiram Bus Stand and Tiruchi Railway Junction.

Mr. Ravichandran added that 227 medical camps would be organised to screen patients.
