GST to give booster shot to medical tourism in Tiruchy

INDIA is a prime country to be chosen by the medical tourists for getting treated with alterna-tive medicinal practices like ayurveda, yoga, homeopathy and acupuncture. As Tiruchy already gets more than 100 foreign tourists a year for alternative medicinal treatment % the GST that is to be rolled out by July 1 is going to culminate this even more as the prices are going to reduce.
Medical tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors in India amongest various countries. Com-paring with other countries most of the foreign medical tourists choose India for getting treated for their illness, even though countries like Singapore, Thai-land and other developed countries has advanced treatment methods, more tourists from other countries choose India. Alternative treating methods is the most chosen by the medical tourists, as India is known for
such methods. As the Indian government is to implement GST soon, which will make the medi-cal costs in India dip more than ever, boosting medical tourism. Speaking to Express, Dr T Pree-thi Pushkarini, Assistant Medi-cal Officer in Naturopathy and Yoga Centre of Tiruchy GH, said, "Over 100 foreign tourists from Europe, France and other cou-tries visit Tiruchy every year for rejuvenating and treating them-selves through alternative treating methods."
