Samayapuram temple sports a new look

The renovation work has been a challenging task for the authorities of the Hindu Religous and Charitable Endowmennt Department (HR and CE) as the original structure of the temple did not have adequate space around the ‘prakaram’ for accommodating a large number of devotees. The problem of crowd management proved more critical during the monthly and annual festivals. The HR and CE department devised a plan for expanding the space all around the ‘prakaram’ so that at least 3,000 devotees can be accommodated around the ‘prakaram’ without any congestion.

Previously, it was too difficult to accommodate even 100 devotees. A vast area of the grounds near the temple have been fully utilised for providing various services. The ‘tonsuring mandapam,’ a vehicle shed, and Amavasai mandapam are the major facilities provided at the temple. Further, the construction of gopurams forms another special feature of the renovation. Special ‘yaga sala’ puja will be held as part of the ‘maha kumbabhishekam’ to be held on February 6. The S.
