Rail users demand intercity express to Bengaluru

Image result for trichy junctionMembers of the divisional railway users' consultative committee (DRUCC) who met on Wednesday reiterated their demand to operate an intercity express from Trichy to Bengaluru, while appealing to officials to extend the insurance cover to commuters who book their tickets at reservation counters. Submitting his memorandum, Swamimalai S Vimalnathan, member of DRUCC pressed the need for including passengers who book their tickets through reservation counters too, as the railways has announced insurance cover for those who book their tickets online, he said.
Meanwhile, A Giri, another member reminded about the extension of platforms 2 and 3 in Kumbakonam to accommodate 24-coach trains which has been a long-pending demand. Passengers from Uzhavan Express find it difficult to get down which is mostly received on platform 2.
Kumbakonam and Mayiladuthurai stations attract hundreds of pilgrims visiting Navagragha temples from various parts of the country. Availability of retiring rooms in both stations are not adequate to cope with the demand. Hence, at least 10 retiring rooms and a dormitory may be provided at both stations, he said.
Selvaraj, National Federation for Blind and Maheswari Vaiyapuri said despite repeated appeals for separate coaches for differently abled people to be attached in all trains, the coaches are completely withdrawn. So, he requested that a separate coach be attached for differently abled in all trains. Announcements about coach position should also be made so that differently abled board the train comfortably.
