Image result for tiger airwaysTo cater to the rising number of passengers to Singapore from Trichy, Tigerair will increase the number of flight services from the international airport here to 13 flights per week from the current 12.

The airline that operates direct flight services to Singapore from here has a wide patronage due to the increase in number of people travelling from the south and the central regions. "The services will be launched in July. The dates are yet to be decided," said a source from the airline. According to a senior official, the date will likely fall in the middle of July.

Currently, the airline operates two flights on five days and one flight each on Monday and Tuesday. The number is expected to increase by one. Each flight has the capacity to take 180 passengers and the flights run in full capacity on most days.

Senior officials in a recent meeting with the airport director BCH Negi had discussed the subject of increasing services. The officials had inspected the infrastructure at the airport and expressed satisfaction. Singapore and Malaysia are hot destinations among people travelling in search of jobs.

Cargo authorities said they were happy to hear that services will be increased, as it assures an additional space of three tonnes. Due to the absence of dedicated cargo carries from Trichy airport, the exporters use passenger airlines to transport goods. As Singapore is the transit point for most goods, exporters are jubilant over the announcement.

In addition to passengers, the central regions have also witnessed a spike in the amount of goods sent to South Eastern countries.
