‘Fly Easy’ to begin service from Trichy to Bangalore
Fly Easy, a Bangalore-based carrier, will be the new entrant at the Trichy Airport. The domestic carrier has sought approval from the aviation ministry to operate daily flights to Bangalore from Trichy.
Fly Easy officials held a meeting with the Trichy airport director and other senior authorities for the probable launch during the end of August.
For long, people from the district have been demanding domestic services from the city to metropolitan cities. The arrival of the new domestic carrier has brought cheers to them. According to airport director B C H Negi, the airline has sought necessary approval from the civil aviation ministry. Plying licence for the operation has been given a green signal. Fly Easy will operate two flights a day.
Senior officials from the airlines inspected the Trichy International Airport. The airline is in the process of recruiting necessary staff to handle passengers at the airport.
Fly Easy is planning to Embraer 190 series aircraft, which has the capacity to carry 130 passengers. Currently, Jet Airways and Air India Express operate flight to Chennai from Trichy.
Fly Easy service to Bangalore is expected to reduce the number of flight hours from the current six hours via Chennai to 50 minutes.
