Surveillance strengthened at Junction
Additional door frame metal detectors have been installed at vantage points in Tiruchi Railway Junction to step up security.
The
door frame metal detectors have been procured under the Integrated
Security Scheme (ISS) that was put in place to tighten security and
surveillance at Tiruchi railway junction.
The
Railway Protection Force sources here said eight door frame metal
detectors had been installed additionally at vantage points in Tiruchi
Junction, including one at the second entry in Kallukuzhi side.
Only
three-door frame metal detectors were installed at Tiruchi junction
which witnesses heavy movement of passengers during peak hours. The
metal detectors form part of the mosaic of security equipment procured
under the surveillance cameras-based ISS. Encompassing four key
components such as the closed circuit television system, access control,
personal baggage screening system, and bomb detection and disposal
system, the ISS was implemented at Tiruchi Junction in March with the
commissioning of some surveillance cameras.
Tiruchi
was one of the major stations throughout the country to be brought under
the ISS that was conceived after the Mumbai attacks in 2008.
