Malindo Air offers through check-in for passengers

Low-cost carrier (LCC) Malindo Air is the latest to join a host of airlines which offer 'through check-in' facility to Trichy passengers. The Malaysia-based airline has begun extending the facility to all its passengers from Trichy to Singapore.

Till now, passengers flying from Trichy to Singapore had to undergo additional check-in at the transit point. With the introduction of through check-in, passengers can avoid this additional step. The move is expected to reduce the waiting time as well as luggage hassles.

The service was rolled out this week for the Singapore flight. With this, all the LCCs flying out from here would be offering this service to its passengers. A few months ago AirAsia, another Malaysia-based LCC, had introduced the facility to its passengers. Previously, if a passenger had to travel to Australia he/she had to first check-in their baggage at the airport in Trichy and then at the transit point at Kuala Lumpur before reaching the final destination

"The services were being offered only by executive airlines, but the low cost airlines have also entered into the big league due to the passenger traffic," said a senior airport official. Usually, an additional 40 minutes is spent in completing check-in at the transit point, and the passengers also have to worry about the whereabouts of their baggage.

Malindo Air made its entry into the city at the start of this year. A B737-900ER flight was introduced for the Kuala Lumpur-Trcihy-Kuala Lumpur route on January 2, 2014. The carrier presently offers services every day of the week. The carrier departs Trichy at 11.25am and reaches Kuala Lumpur international airport(KLIA) at 5 40pm.

Malindo Air recently launched its cargo services from the city, after a spike in the transport of perishable goods. A senior official working with the airline claimed that Malindo Air has greater seating capacity than other carriers operating in Trichy, with more capacity to a accommodate cargo as well.

Bringing relief to the passengers boarding flights at the Trichy Airport, who mostly fly to the Arab countries and other nations will be now be provided to the services to that of an executive airline, which offers "through check in" facilities and the latest to join is " Malindo Air". The airline has now started providing the facility to all its passengers from Trichy to Singapore.

The service was rolled out this week for the Singapore flight along with the rollout of Jakarta and Poly in Indonesia a few days before. Mailndo Air that made its entry in to the city in the beginning of this year recently launched its cargo services from the city, which has now witnessed a spike due to the rise in perishable goods. All these years' people travelling from Trichy to other countries have to check in their baggage here collect it at the transit point and then wait for another 40 minutes again checking before boarding the next flight. Usually, if a passenger has to travel to Australia has to first check in his baggage at the Airport here and then at the transit point at Kuala Lumpur before reaching the final destination, which will all be cut now. Air Asia" another low cost carrier also introduced the facility a few months ago.

The Malaysia-based low cost carrier Malindo Air (B737-900ER) started its service on the Kuala Lumpur-Trichy-Kuala Lumpur sector from January 2, 2014. At present the carrier is flying seven times in a week. The carrier arrives here at 10.45 am and departs at 11.25 am reaching Kuala Lumpur international airport (KLIA) at 5.40 pm.

"The services were being offered only by the executive airlines, however the low cost airlines have also entered in to the big league seeing the passenger traffic", said a senior airport official. He further added that the passenger waiting time will be reduced and also without any difficulty thinking of their baggage, he added. All the LCC's that are operating from the city are offering the through check in facility.

Though several carriers operating from Trichy Airport have been providing direct services to Singapore, Malindo Air has more seat capacity than all the other carriers operated to accommodate more number of passengers as well as cargo, said a senior official belonging to the Airline. The Trichy airport on a daily basis receives at least 250 passengers boarding the five international airways that take them to various destinations abroad but mostly to the south eastern nations.
