Teaching, learning set to become technology-driven at NIT-T in Tiruchi
A Teaching and Learning Centre established under the Technical Education
Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP-II) was declared open at the
National Institute of Technology-Tiruchi (NIT-T) on Sunday.
The centre was opened by M. Anandakrishnan, former Vice-Chancellor, Anna
University, in the presence of Rajaram Nityananda, Chairman, Board of
Governors, NIT-T, and Srinivasan Sundarrajan, Director, NIT-T.
Dr. Anandakrishnan said the centre would serve the institution well given its large and diversified student profile.
The centre would seek to make teaching and learning enjoyable and
productive for both teachers and students using latest technology. The
centre would video record lectures of faculty members and upload them on
to a local area network (LAN); procure authoring tool to help the
faculty write books embedding multi-media components; conduct workshops;
arrange lectures on effective teaching, video conferences on outcome
based education; explore various techniques to make teaching a learner
centric experience and train faculty. It would explore the use of social
networking to increase the effectiveness of learning and organise
national-level conclaves on teaching learning process.
G. Swaminathan, Registrar (Officiating), NIT-T, explained programmes
taken up under TEQIP-II. The inaugural was followed by a symposium and
panel discussion on effective teaching learning process with formers
professors and alumni of NITT sharing their experiences.
