New Joint Transport Commissioner office opened in Tiruchi
The new office of the Joint Transport Commissioner ( Enforcement) with
Srirangam as its headquarters was inaugurated by Chief Minister
Jayalalithaa through video-conference from Chennai on Wednesday.
It has been created primarily to monitor and ensure effective
implementation of enforcement works and road safety measures, an
official release here said.
The new office will have jurisdiction over 25 Regional Transport Offices
and 27 Unit Offices located in central and southern districts besides
three check posts.
Among the new posts sanctioned include Joint Transport Commissioner, RTO (Enforcement), and a Motor Vehicle Inspector Grade – I.
The new office will function within the Transport Department building at
Pirattiyur, falling under the Srirangam taluk, where the offices of the
Deputy Transport Commissioner, Tiruchi, and the RTO, Tiruchi West, are
located.
