RajarathinamThe work on restoration of the Surya Pushkarani at the temple has been welcomed by devotees. The tank collects rainwater from the ceiling of the Garuda Mandapam and acts as a rainwater harvest structure. The water tank is about 500 sq. ft. in area, measuring 25 ft in length and 20 ft in breadth. The eastern side of the Pushkarani accounts for about 15 steps. It was last renovated in January 1964. “Over the years, it got dilapidated and the thick growth of vegetation including a tree, weakened the structure,” say the temple authorities. The renovation aims at retaining the architecture. Every stone is numbered so that its architectural beauty was restored
