Valadi-Kallakudi line doubling work completed
Track doubling work on the 25-km stretch from Valadi to
Kallakudi Palanganatham, in the Villupuram-Tiruchi chord line, has been
completed and a request would be made to the Commissioner of Railway
Safety (CRS) to inspect the section, Southern Railway General Manager
Rakesh Misra said on Wednesday.
The CRS would
inspect the doubling work between Valadi and Kallakudi Palanganatham
within a month, Mr. Misra told reporters here after inspecting the broad
gauge section from Vriddhachalam to Tiruchi.
The
doubling work would be completed by September or October, Mr. Misra
said. The Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, a special purpose vehicle and a
Government of India Enterprise, is executing the doubling project.
As
part of his annual inspection, Mr. Misra said he had inspected in
detail the condition of the track, stations, bridges, points, and
level-crossings falling between Vriddhachalam and Tiruchi. He inspected
the railway quarters and basic facilities provided to the railway staff
as part of his inspection that lasted over four hours.
