PWD to expedite ongoing projects in Tiruchi

Minister for School Education, Law, Youth Welfare and Sports N.R.Sivapathi has instructed Public Works Department (PWD) to expedite the ongoing projects being executed by it in the district.
At a meeting to review the progress of development works and implementation of welfare measures on Tuesday, Mr. Sivapathi urged the department officials to complete the construction of the National Law School buildings, sanctioned at a cost of Rs.75 crore, Yatri Nivas in Srirangam sanctioned at a cost of Rs.42 crore, the check dam across the Cauvery near Kambarasampettai, and the sub-registrar’s office at Thathaiyengarpet.
Additional classrooms and compound walls would be built at government schools, wherever necessary. In the current year, five schools have been accorded permission to introduce English medium of instruction. The Minister directed Tiruchi Corporation to commission the new drinking water supply augmentation scheme for the city at the earliest, and take up the extension of the underground drainage to the omitted areas soon.
