ROB opened for traffic in Tiruverumbur
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has
thrown open for traffic its newly constructed road over bridge (ROB) in
Tiruverumbur town, providing partial relief to motorists.
Work is still underway on strengthening the existing ROB, which would serve as the other carriageway of the four-lane highway.
Regular users of the stretch between Palpannai and Thuvakudi have been
waiting for over five years for the completion of the ROB works in
Tiruverumbur and Ariyamangalam. Though started late due to the slow
process of land acquisition, the works are progressing at a steady pace
at both places.
Relatively, Tiruverumbur town
witnesses higher traffic congestion for most part of the day,
particularly during the evening hours. Repair works on the already
existing road that will serve as the other part of the four-lane
carriageway will be completed within the next two months, it is reliably
learnt.
Two underpasses are under construction
beneath the ROB on either sides of the rail track, for the convenience
of local public. These underpasses obviate the necessity for the locals
to cross the four-lane road
