Plan to augment facilities at five places of worship
The State government has planned to augment
infrastructure in five renowned places of worships, including three
temples, in the central region on an outlay of Rs. 2.57 crore.
The
infrastructure facilities will be created in Srirangam Sri
Ranganathaswami Temple (Rs. One crore); Sri Rajagopalaswami Temple in
Mannargudi in Tiruvarur district (Rs. 45 lakh), Sri Siva Temple at Sri
Vanjiam in Nannilam taluk of Tiruvarur district (Rs. 43.60 lakh);
Adaikalamatha Church at Elakurichi in Ariyalur district (Rs. 44 lakh);
and Jambuvanodai Dargah at Muthupettai in Tiruvarur district (Rs. 25
lakh).
At Srirangam temple, it will be a one-km-long
pavement with shelter to facilitate devotees taking bath in river
Cauvery at Ammamandapam bathing ghat to reach the temple with ease and
protection from rain and sun, according to official sources.
At
the Mannargudi Rajagopalaswami Temple, a restroom, cloakroom, bathroom
and toilet block will be constructed. Similar facilities will be created
at Sri Vanjiam Siva Temple.
The Elakurichi Church will get bathrooms, cloakroom, restrooms, concrete road, compound wall, holy tank and steps leading to it.
The
government has sanctioned Rs. 25 lakh for the construction of a vehicle
parking lot and toilet block in the Jambuvanodai Dargah.
These
facilities, besides benefitting the devotees visiting these shrines
from across the country round-the-year, will also help promote tourism.
