NIT-T meet next week

'Green Electronics' will be the theme for PROBE 11, the 20th edition of the annual technical symposium of the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department of the National Institute of Technology - Tiruchi (NIT-T), on March 4 and 5.

Featuring panel discussions, guest lectures and workshops, the technical festival reputed for projecting industry-institute interaction has drawn active participation from premium institutions and major electronics companies. The prized event will be ‘Green Ideas Challenge' co-sponsored by reputed industry giant, Schneider Electric.

According to Santhosh Raj KS, chairman, PROBE'11, the event, dubbed a ‘non-conventional' paper presentation competition, requires participants to present a complete plan for the implementation of a ‘green' idea in electronics. The theme, he said, was chosen to encourage greener alternatives and upgrades to existing technology. The Chief Guest, V.Natarajan, Joint Director of Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory, Defence Research and Development Organisation, Cochin, will deliver a lecture on upcoming area of RF MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems). Students will also get an opportunity to listen to guest lectures on topics ranging from multi-core processors to energy-efficiency.
