JET Airways starts Tiruchi-Chennai service

Jet Airways launched its daily Tiruchi-Chennai services on Sunday with departure timings of 2.10 p.m. and 8.45 p.m. suiting onward connectivity to various domestic and international destinations.

Domestic destinations connected by the Airways from Chennai constitute Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Cochin, and the international destinations comprise New York, Singapore, Dubai, Colombo, Kuala Lumpur, and London.

Referring to Tiruchi as a place of high business potential, the Regional General Manager of Jet Airways, Chennai, T.R. Girii, told presspersons that the scope for operating services out of Tiruchi to Dubai and Colombo will be explored in the coming years.

The procedure for through check-in is completed in Tiruchi for Jet Airways passengers bound for various destinations from Chennai. International travellers can proceed straight with their departure card for fulfilment of Customs and Immigration formalities once they reach Chennai, according to P. Narayanan, Station Manager, Jet Airways.

Another advantage is that the fuel-surcharge in the fare from Tiruchi to Chennai is not levied for passengers boarding connecting Jet Airways flight to destinations from Chennai, he said, adding that in situations of delay in reaching Chennai before the departure of the connection flight to domestic destinations, passengers are accommodated in the subsequent Jet Airways flights from there to their intended destinations.On the first day, there was forty per cent occupancy in the ATR aircraft with 62 economy seats. The airline expects a normal occupancy of 70 to 80 per cent. The Airport Controller, Tiruchi Airport, S. Dharmaraj, took part in the inaugural function.
